Plastic Smart Recovery Hub

Plastic Smart Recovery Hub

2023-2024 | Jakarta, Bogor, Depok

In collaboration with WWF Plastic Smart Cities, Rekosistem, and SweepSmart, this project builds scalable plastic waste solutions to reduce unmanaged waste in Greater Jakarta.

  • Over 100 tons of plastic waste collected and recycled into high-quality pellets.
  • Verified interception of at-risk plastic waste.
  • Digitally monitored through RECOllection.
  • Each purchase strengthens decentralized recovery systems and coastal livelihoods.
Ambon Plastic Recovery Center

Ambon Plastic Recovery Center

2023-2024 | Ambon, Maluku

Decentralized facility intercepting ocean-bound plastic in high-leakage coastal communities.

  • Processed ocean-bound plastic.
  • Created green jobs, prioritizing women and informal waste workers.
  • Conducted education programs for local residents on responsible waste management.
Plastic in Circles Indonesia

Plastic in Circles Indonesia

2022-2023 | Ambon, Maluku

A project empowering communities to sort waste at the source and scale local recycling infrastructure.

  • Enabled 2,000 households to separate waste responsibly.
  • Established a 20 TPD Material Recovery Facility.
  • Created green job opportunities through circular innovation.
Digitalizing and formalizing informal waste collection network

Digitalizing and Formalizing Informal Waste Collection Network

2024-2025 | Ambon, Maluku

A digital platform revolutionizing waste traceability and empowering the informal sector.

  • Collect, track, and recycle plastic waste through digital monitoring.
  • Empower informal waste collectors with digital solution.
  • Created green job opportunities.
Circular Ambon

Circular Ambon

2025 | Ambon, Maluku

A river-interception and recycling initiative where RECO led local implementation of plastic recovery and recycling operations.

  • Mesh booms installed across three rivers to intercept plastic before Ambon Bay.
  • RECO-managed recovery and transport of intercepted debris.
  • Established Ambon's first full plastic recycling line.
  • River plastic processed into circular products.

Event Waste Management

Makassar Half Marathon event

Makassar Half Marathon - "Run for the Planet"

Since 2024 (once a year) | Makassar, South Sulawesi

RECO integrated structured waste management into one of Eastern Indonesia's largest sporting events, reaching over 10,000 participants.

MIWF 2025 event

MIWF 2025 - "Land to Hand"

2025 | Makassar, South Sulawesi

At Makassar International Writers Festival 2025, RECO implemented responsible waste management within a large cultural festival setting.

Over 178 kg of plastic waste was properly collected and processed, proving that environmental accountability can be embedded into public and creative spaces.

Corporate Waste Management

Plastic waste recycling project

Plastic Waste Recycling Project

2025 - (On-going) | Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Bandung

RECO partnered with BCA to implement a CSR-based recycling program for plastic waste generated from banknote wrapping materials.

Through structured collection, processing, and traceable recovery systems, the plastic waste was reintegrated into the recycling value chain, supporting a circular economy approach.

This collaboration demonstrates how corporate operational waste streams can be transformed into responsible, verifiable circular economy solutions that deliver real environmental impact.

Community Engagement

Plogging activity

Plogging with EY and UFS

2025 | Surabaya

In Surabaya, RECO partnered with Embrace Youth International and Unity for Sustainability to conduct a climate-action plogging initiative.

The activity recovered 9.5 kg of waste while raising awareness about littering, responsible consumption, and household-level waste management.

RECO box

RECO Box

2025 - (On Going) | Surabaya

A community-based waste drop-off system designed to make household waste segregation accessible and practical. Developed for residential clusters and public areas, RECO box combines recycling infrastructure with behavior-change engagement to encourage responsible waste sorting at the source.

In collaboration with:

Collection Points:

  • 5 primary community collection points for household plastic segregation
  • 12 coastal collection sites purchasing plastic from coastal communities and waste pickers
  • Additional recovery from river traps, coastal cleanup operation, and landfill diversion activities

This initiative demonstrates how localized drop-off systems, when paired with education and engagement, can drive real behavioral change and structured material recovery.

From Island to Impact.

Let's build recovery systems that last.
