Lebih dari 12.400 pelari berhasil mencapai garis finish di Makassar Half Marathon 2026. Namun, ketika perlombaan usai, proses penting lainnya baru saja dimulai: memastikan seluruh sampah yang dihasilkan selama acara dapat dipulihkan (recovered) dengan baik.
Sebagai waste recovery partner Makassar Half Marathon, Recovered Indonesia mendukung penyelenggaraan acara dengan menyediakan tempat sampah, kantong pengumpulan, serta tim recovery yang bertugas sepanjang acara berlangsung. Membangun event yang berkelanjutan dimulai dari sistem yang tepat, bahkan jauh sebelum pelari melewati garis finish.
Selama dua hari penyelenggaraan, terkumpul 1.380 kg sampah. Namun, pengumpulan hanyalah langkah pertama.
Di balik proses ini, terdapat 18 perempuan yang bekerja tanpa banyak terlihat. Mereka memilah setiap kantong sampah secara manual, memisahkan setiap material ke jalur pemulihan yang sesuai. Dedikasi mereka menjadi bagian penting dalam memastikan material yang masih bernilai tidak berakhir di tempat pembuangan, melainkan dapat terus dimanfaatkan dalam ekonomi sirkular.
Melalui proses pemilahan tersebut, 1.020,3 kg sampah berhasil dipisahkan ke dalam berbagai kategori material, di antaranya:
- 280 kg botol PET
- 98,1 kg plastik HDPE
- 23 kg tutup botol berbahan polypropylene (PP)
- 83,5 kg kertas dan karton
- 112,4 kg styrofoam
- 337 kg sampah organik
Hal ini menunjukkan satu kenyataan penting: pengelolaan sampah tidak berhenti pada proses pengumpulan. Setiap jenis material membutuhkan jalur pemulihan yang berbeda agar nilainya dapat dimaksimalkan dan tidak berakhir di tempat pembuangan akhir. Tanpa proses pemilahan yang tepat, material yang sebenarnya dapat didaur ulang akan kehilangan nilainya, sampah organik akan terkontaminasi, dan peluang untuk dipulihkan pun hilang.

More than 12,400 runners successfully crossed the finish line at the Makassar Half Marathon 2026. However, when the race ended, another important process had just begun: ensuring that all waste generated throughout the event could be properly recovered.
As the waste recovery partner of Makassar Half Marathon, Recovered Indonesia supported the event by providing waste bins, collection bags, and a recovery team that worked throughout the entire event. Building a sustainable event starts with the right system — long before runners cross the finish line.
Over the two-day event, a total of 1,380 kg of waste was collected. However, collection was only the first step.
Behind this process were 18 women working quietly behind the scenes. They manually sorted every waste bag, separating each material into the appropriate recovery streams. Their dedication played a crucial role in ensuring that valuable materials did not end up in landfills, but instead continued to contribute to the circular economy.
Through this sorting process, 1,020.3 kg of waste was successfully separated into various material categories, including:
- 280 kg of PET bottles
- 98.1 kg of HDPE plastic
- 23 kg of polypropylene (PP) bottle caps
- 83.5 kg of paper and cardboard
- 112.4 kg of styrofoam
- 337 kg of organic waste
This highlights an important reality: waste management does not stop at collection. Each type of material requires a different recovery pathway to maximize its value and prevent it from ending up in landfills. Without proper sorting, recyclable materials lose their value, organic waste becomes contaminated, and opportunities for recovery are lost.
